PROJECT MANAGER - Barcelona First Ever Partner City for Hong Kong Business of Design Week (2015)

I was the Hong Kong-based project manager of the Barcelona Guest city program at the Business Design Week 2015. I coordinated the team based in Barcelona and their program with the Business of Design Week's stakeholders in Hong Kong. Hong Kong's Business of Design Week -BODW- is the annual flagship programme presented by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC). Asia’s leading event on design, innovation and brands, BODW offers a series of sessions and supporting programmes to create a valuable platform for innovation and collaboration. The event is co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and funded by Create Hong Kong.

Every year, Business of Design Week acts as a platform where design masters and business leaders can share their insight into how design bridges big ideas and innovations. In 2015, with their first-ever Partner City Barcelona, BODW further explored how creative endeavors can transform cities and lead societies into the future. BODW 2015 was presented under the theme ‘Design. Cities. Future.’ which puts the spotlight on how good design is contributing to the cities of the future. Barcelona comprises a rich heritage as well as a modern bend toward forward-thinking design, and BODW 2015 speakers from Barcelona, Hong Kong and around the globe offer stimulating discussion of community and culture within the realm of innovative design and business growth.

PROJECT MANAGER - Barcelona Guest City Program at the Beijing Design Week (2014)

I was the Beijing-based project manager of the Barcelona Guest city program at the Beijing Design Week 2014. I coordinated the team based in Barcelona and their program with the Beijing Design Week's stakeholders in Beijing. Barcelona is known for its singular modernist architecture, but also for its pioneering urban planning and award winning architecture and interior design. Design is present in all fields of creativity, from its vibrant and creative graphic and industrial designers to its worldly renowned architects. The Guest City Program of Barcelona at Beijing Design Week was an initiative of the Institut Ramon Llull. The aim of this program was to bring the finest of Barcelona's design and creativity to Beijing to build a bridge of knowledge, exchange and collaboration between the two cities.

The Beijing Design Week is an annual event, taking place in the fall in Beijing. First launched as a pilot effort in 2009, it has quickly become the leading international platform for design in China. In 2012, UNESCO named Beijing an “international design capital, recognizing the city’s effort to foster innovation and be a leading smart city in China. The purpose of Beijing Design Week is to raise public design awareness as well as to help develop stronger design infrastructure in Beijing. BJDW is an initiative of the Ministry of Education of the PRC, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, the Ministry of Culture of the PRC, and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. The event comprehends a massive program with pop up events and exhibitions across the city.
