Photo Essay: G A L L O P
ALBONS, GIRONA, SPAIN (DECEMBER 2023)
G A L L O P is the result of Laia Palma’s inviting me to spend a couple of hours at her Equestrian Club, Equus Empordà (Spain). During this limited amount of time, I followed Laia around her club while she told me about the values behind the vision of the business she has been growing during the last few years. And how her unique relationship with the horses and other animals inhabiting the place make Equus Empordà a very unique Equestrian Club. Laia believes horses need to be treated as horses. Hence they must be allowed to behave as horses and humans should not decide what they need on their behalf. Horses will always tell us if we learn how to listen.
“I want people to regain trust in themselves and others and to allow ourselves to feel and to be able to be authentic. I would like us to respect each other. Life is not a race so that we fit into unrealistic scenarios! I want us to remember that dreams come true if you work and focus on them!,” Laia explains.
This photo essay wants to convey the whispers that make Equus Empordà an only female run Equestrian Club where horses and humans can learn from each other whilst contributing to bringing back to society much needed values.
